Resistance and Escape

Throughout my stay with Serena Joy and the Commander, I was partnered with another handmaid named Ofglen for walks to the market. Ofglen is part of the resistance and tries to confirm that I am a member to by uttering something about a May day. However, I did not get the message. One day she asked me in front of the computerized prayers if she thought God heard these machines. I said I didn't. We realized that both of us were both not real believers. We enjoyed each others company now. However, one day they realized she was a member of the resistance and they were coming to get her and she committed suicide before they could get to her. She was brave beyond any measure and I miss her terribly. She helped me through the rough time of this era of this new time.

So Nick and I were finally able to conceive a child and in the process I fell heard for Nick. I began to love him more and more. One day during my pregnancy, these Eyes came. (Nick is a Eye and Eyes are a government spy agency) Nick was part of the resistance and this was a ploy to get me out of this horrible world. Nick helped me escape this dreadful dystopia. Nick had two motives Ofglen was my partner and she was suspected. And of course they would question me, so what if I was to give him away. He could be murdered. The other reason was that he really did love me and his child i was carrying. I was free to and from....or was I?
